After what seems like an eternity, the Alliance Dota team is back in full force.
Just in time for DAC, we sat down with Kelly Ong Xiao Wei, the manager of the Dota team, to discuss the new lineup, and what`s in store for the future.
Hey Kelly! You just announced Alliances lineup for the upcoming DAC-qualifier: Loda, Akke, EGM, Pajkatt and Mynuts. How did you decide on those players?
Hi! Loda has decided that a full-Swedish roster would still be the best choice. We did try out a few other players in between, and in the end, we were most comfortable with this line up, and most confident in the growth of both the team and players in this roster. Loda also likes to groom new players and bring them into the competitive scene so I guess mynuts fulfill this role. At the same time, mynuts has been having great synergy with Akke and Loda so it will be unwise to let go of that. Dota 2 has always been a team game so team synergy is very important.
Is this now the official Alliance roster, or is it just for DAC?
This is the short term roster for now, which I hope will become the permanent iteration of Alliance until at least TI5.
Can you shed some light on Bulldogs situation?
I really need to clarify this: We have not kicked or removed Bulldog, he has chosen to step away from the competitive scene on his own volition, we tried to keep him in the team but he has chosen to focus on streaming for now to rediscover his passion for Dota 2. His return remains a question, he might end up returning to us, or he might choose to ask for a transfer to another team if he finds the opportunity to.
In the mean time, he is still our beloved Bulldong and we will support him in whatever he ends up doing. As of now, he will still be part of Alliance and might stand in occasionally, but there is no definite promise that he will return to compete in the near future.
A lot of people are curious as to what happened with Chessie. How is his injury?
As of now, he has done all he can to try to get better. He has been meeting up with various different specialists and his most current update and advise from his doctor is to take a complete break (before he was playing up to 5 games a day). A new update will come in about 2 weeks time. We have been very supportive to him and hope that he will get better as he is a very talented player.
Who is currently drafting for the team?
Pajkatt is currently the in-game captain for Alliance.
EGM is moving away from the support-role, instead playing in the offlane. How has that transition been?
EGM has always wanted to play off-lane, it has been a bit tough as a role swap is always difficult. There are many things we are working on and I believe that if a player (or anybody) puts their mind to something, they will most definitely succeed.
Anything else you want to tell the fans, any shoutouts?
I want to thank the organisation, sponsors and fans for their constant support throughout a very tough 2014. I hope that after our new roster has had enough practice, we can be a te[A]m you will be proud of supporting again.
I want to thank Akke for being the best support not only in game for Loda, but in real life as well when we had a very hard time with roster changes and under performance. Loda is someone who takes (too much) responsibility for things when they do not go well and often blames himself. Akke has been a great support to Loda alleviating some of that stress.
Please keep a look out for our “Lokke” set coming out in a few months time : )
