Gothenburg, Sweden, 16th October 2024 – Today, Alliance is proud to announce the extension of our Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) division for one more year.
Alliance entered CS in 2023 with the goal of raising the interest and the bar of competition domestically in Sweden. In CS history, Sweden has been the home of many CS champions. However, that light has dimmed in recent years as there are very few opportunities for players to have a safe home to grow in right before the very elite level. Though we have many grassroots initiatives, the next step up is immediately at a spot-lighted elite level – where spots are far and few in between, with immense pressure to perform immediately or be out. We yearned to become the home of the next generation of Swedish CS Elites, however we recognise that it takes time, money and patience to believe in a project that can fill in the shoes of the old Swedish titans who have brought home countless of glory and inspired an entire generation of gamers.
There is a famous saying in Sweden: “Mycket snack, lite verkstad” – Much Talk, Little Work.
We decided that we have to step up to fill in the gap of daring to have a dream, to be one of the homes to Swedish players who want to be the best in the world – and what it means and takes to be one.
Even though we have some ground to cover to reach the level we hope to compete consistently at, we have no doubt that everyone in Alliance who works with CS and in the organization believes in the fact that we too can help share the responsibility and shape the future of what this legendary game means to Sweden.
Aside from working with our pro-team for the past year, we also delivered on our promises to engage the community and scene as well. We’ve managed to implement multiple initiatives such as our Tele2 Alliance Academy division, co-hosting multiple domestic tournaments as well as community meet ups and more. With courage and fervor, we worked to be active on many levels and that meant we could play a critical role in reviving the entire domestic scene. The competitions and organizations competing in CS2 have reached a new height, the interest from the public and big brands domestically are now blooming again.
In the past year we focused on establishing a strong team culture and [A] winning mentality. Today we are proud to share that we have agreed to continue together for one more year.
Our IGL Simon “Twist” Eliasson comments: “I would like to thank Alliance for giving us the opportunity and believing in us this past year through ups and downs. It means a lot more than anything, that our org has been there for us not only through the good times when we were performing, but even more so by our side during the periods we were struggling to find ourselves and our game again. To repay that and the fans who have been cheering on us, we will continue to work hard and be the team you can cheer for and be proud of.
I am glad we can reach an agreement to continue for another year. We hope to bring home prestigious trophies.”
Our squad is currently in the final stages of qualification for Svenska Cupen playoffs and we are also competing for a spot at Svenska Elitserien LAN finals. On top of that we will continue playing qualifiers for premium and major global tournaments. We hope that you can continue following us on this epic journey.
Special thanks to our Swedish Main Sponsor, Tele2 as well as the ALLfam for showing us support during this important year.
